How many low-maintenance, walk-out ranch plans are builders likely to offer this year in the scenic countryside south around Castle Pines? Just a handful…plus a few ranch-townhome plans. “It’s a very desirable location,” says Village Homes’ Jackie Mullen, who has gone through five ranch plans in Castle Pines North since early fall, in an enclave wrapped in trails and open space, across from The Ridge at Castle Pines North Golf Club.
Kathy and Frank Contos got hold of one of those last year, when Village still had two dozen sites left at The Crossings at Castle Pines North.
“We had been dealing with aging parents, and they waited too long to get rid of their two-story.” Frank Contos recalls. That set the Highlands Ranch couple on a detailed search all over the south and west metro area, for a ranch for themselves.
“We found homes that were nice, but we focused more on the style that Village builds,” Contos says. “We wanted a really open interior.” The Contos say they get rave reviews on their new place from family. “Our two little granddaughters never want to leave,” he adds.
Meanwhile, says Mullen, those kinds of opportunities are running out fast. With those recent sales, Village has only 12 lots left – including a number of coveted sites that will do a walk-out or garden level basement – generally agreed, something that works with a ranch like vanilla ice cream goes with hot fudge. For somebody looking to really stretch their ranch dollar, Village also has 10 sites left in The Crossings where it can do townhomes – including four ranches, all of them walkouts. The soonest of those delivers this February – around 2,226 square feet, at $321,728.
You’ll see those near-term townhomes overlooking a vale of Gambel oak near The Crossing’s entryway from Castle Pines Parkway, just west of Monarch. You can also tour one of the larger Garden ranch plans that Village has ready for move-in now — a rare chance to actually see inside a finished ranch before you write a contract.
“We really like it,” adds Frank Contos, who has volunteered on several occasions to let Mullen show his house, which the couple decked out with custom painted murals of Colorado mountain-scapes, along with Village’s high standard of appliances, cabinets and hardwood. “When people are downsizing or making a lateral move to a ranch, they don’t want to settle for Formica and vinyl,” says Village’s Mullen.
She’ll be on hand today and tomorrow a mile west of I-25 on Castle Pines Parkway to Bristolwood, just before the golf course.
