An argument inside a home in the 900 block of Sheridan Boulevard on Tuesday night escalated to gunfire and a woman was killed, Denver police said.
Detective John White of the Denver Police Department said two groups of people were involved, but he would not speculate on the cause of the disturbance or how many shots were fired in the incident about 8:20 p.m.
“We don’t think it’s a home invasion, but we’re not ruling anything out at this point,” White said about 9:30 p.m. as numerous officers searched the alleys and talked to neighbors.
Those involved in the fight were still at large. The woman’s name and age have not been released, as well as any information about suspects.
White said police were called by people reporting numerous shots fired inside the home, but he did not know whether there was a shootout or more than one shooter.
The home is across the street from the El Torito Bar & Grill, where bartender Jose Beltran-Galindo was shot and killed Jan. 4. Lakewood police have issued a warrant for Eric Hernandez Montiel, 37, in that killing.
