GOLDEN, Colo.—A state trooper who rescued a 10-year-old Greeley boy from icy water is being honored.
Trooper Daniel Haley is scheduled to receive the Colorado State Patrol’s medal of valor during a ceremony Monday in Golden.
Haley was off-duty and with his family near the Greeley Family FunPlex on Nov. 27 when he saw Brenndan Daviet fall through some ice. Haley fell through the ice too as he rescued the boy but managed to bring him to the shore.
Brenndan and his mother plan to attend the ceremony along with members of Haley’s family.
