BOSTON — Sen. Scott Brown reveals in his memoir that he was molested by a camp counselor as a child, according to a “60 Minutes” interview to be broadcast Sunday.

Brown, a Republican who last year won the Massachusetts seat that Sen. Edward Kennedy had held, is to embark on a national tour next week to promote his book, “Against All Odds: My Life of Hardship, Fast Breaks and Second Chances,” which is scheduled to be released Tuesday.

Its publication comes as Brown gears up for a re-election campaign in 2012. He has said he hopes to raise up to $25 million for the campaign.

In the “60 Minutes” interview, Brown says he never told anyone about the abuse — which he says happened “more than once” at a summer camp — before writing the book.

Brown also writes about shoplifting as a teenager.

His book tour will start Tuesday in Boston. The New York Times
