The Cherry Creek North retail district reported Thursday that sales-tax collections in the first three quarters of 2010 were $5.04 million, up 9 percent from the same period in 2009.
Citing preliminary data from the city of Denver, Cherry Creek North said the increase in its collections for the nine-month period was higher than the city’s overall increase of 7 percent, 6 percent for the surrounding metro area and 4 percent statewide.
The increase came as the district is undergoing an $18.5 million streetscape renovation project that includes new landscaping and other improvements. Cherry Creek North said the number of businesses opening and closing last year was “balanced.” Steve Raabe, The Denver Post
