Academy Award-winning film director Oliver Stone said he couldn’t get work after “Scarface” first came out.
Stone, who wrote the 1983 film’s script, said Sunday that the movie had plenty of “street cred,” but was criticized by Hollywood`s elite for its violence.
“I basically was a pariah,” he said.
Stone was presented with a “Master of Cinema Award” on Sunday during the Boulder International Film Festival`s closing night at the Boulder Theater. In a wide-ranging talk with Ron Bostwick, the film festival`s executive producer of special events, Stone touched on war, politics and working with actors.
