Highlights from the Colorado Legislature on Thursday:
— The House gave preliminary approval to a bill that would require law-enforcement officers to report suspected illegal immigrants to prosecutors (House Bill 1088). The measure, approved on a voice vote, would also force bail bond agents to forfeit a bond if a client is deported.
— The House gave preliminary approval to a measure revising requirement for when a forensic autopsy should be performed (House Bill 1258).
— The House Finance Committee voted 7-5 to forward a bill to ban the use of state funds to pay for advertisements and communications from statewide officials, district attorneys and others in elected office (House Bill 1065).
— A proposal to add 10 cents to movie tickets to boost Colorado’s incentive fund for filmmakers passed a House committee after the sponsor modified the bill to make the fee voluntary.
— Ice Age bones found in western Colorado were shown off in the House and Senate as lawmakers took up a resolution honoring last year’s discovery of Ice Age fossils near Snowmass Village.
— A proposal to add keno, a bingo-like number game, to the Colorado Lottery was rejected in the House State, Veterans & Military Affairs Committee (House Bill 1243).
