LOVELAND, Colo.—A judge could decide Monday how much restitution a Montana truck driver will pay for destroying a lithograph in a Colorado museum that she considered sacrilege.
Kathleen Folden pleaded guilty in November to misdemeanor criminal mischief. In October, she destroyed a lithograph called “The Misadventures of the Romantic Cannibals” in a city-owned museum in Loveland.
Critics say the piece portrayed Jesus in a sex act.
Folden, of Kalispell, Mont., was sentenced to probation and public service and ordered to get mental health treatment.
Prosecutors asked the judge to set restitution at $6,700. Folden’s attorney, Derek Samuelson, wants a lower sum, although it’s not clear if he set a specific amount.
Samuelson says 19 other editions of the lithograph sold for an average of about $1,700.
