BRIGHTON — A former employee of the Greater Brighton Fire Protection District was arrested after police said he broke into a fire station and stole equipment. He also is accused of threatening the fire chief.

Robert Burns, 40, was arrested late last week on charges of theft by receiving.

Brighton police said Burns broke into a fire station on East 120th Avenue in Brighton in late January and got away with knives, flashlights, hats and a firefighter’s jacket.

Brighton Fire Chief Mark Bodane said Burns left him multiple voice mails threatening him with violence if he were to say anything to police about the break-in.
