Complaints about rebate offers topped the list of gripes that consumers filed last year with the Colorado attorney general’s office.
The office Monday said that in 2010, Colorado consumers filed 6,462 complaints with the attorney general. That was up nearly 37 percent over 2009’s total of 4,723 and up 117 percent from the 2,969 complaints filed in 2008.
Utilities — a category that includes cable- and satellite-TV companies — received the second-largest number of complaints, followed by consumer-finance and loan companies, personal-care product companies and online-shopping services.
