Highlights from the Colorado Legislature on Tuesday:
— Colorado lawmakers say they plan to introduce legislation that would allow convenience stores and grocery stores to sell full-strength beer after Gov. John Hickenlooper’s administration changed rules on the sale of low-strength beer to make it easier for restaurants and liquor stores to sell those brands.
— The Senate approved a bill that would allow district judges to issue arrest warrants and fine people who don’t honor subpoenas in response to campaign finance violation complaints. The measure (House Bill 1117) needs to go back to the House so lawmakers there can consider amendments.
— Republican Secretary of State Scott Gessler spoke in support of a bill to prevent people from voting unless they can prove they’re U.S. citizens. House Bill 1252 is scheduled to be heard by a committee Wednesday.
— A House committee approved a bill that would require coaches in youth sports to bench players believed to have suffered a concussion. Senate Bill 40 would also require coaches to take training in recognizing concussion symptoms. The bill now goes to the full House.
