The Colorado secretary of state’s office will send staffers to Saguache County this week to review ballots from the 2010 general election.
Details of what the office will review are expected to be released today.
Saguache County Clerk and Recorder Melinda Myers has been under scrutiny since a “re- tabulation” overseen by her office flipped the results of two county races, including her own.
Myers and County Commissioner Linda Joseph, both Democratic incumbents, appeared to be losing their races on the night of the Nov. 2 general election. A few days later Myers said that an error had occurred and the ballots needed to be retabulated. When that process was complete Nov. 5, Myers and Joseph were declared winners.
Myers maintains the preliminary results posted on election night were flawed and that the Nov. 5 count was accurate. She could not be reached for comment Monday.
The attorney general’s office also is investigating.
