WASHINGTON — An expert advisory panel to the Food and Drug Administration said Friday that the “removal of menthol cigarettes from the marketplace would benefit the public health.”
The scientific advisory panel, made up of scientists, physicians and public-health experts, found that menthol cigarettes, with their characteristic “minty” flavor, are especially enticing to teenagers and are more likely to develop them into lifetime smokers.
