A man who police believe was building and setting off fireworks was arrested in unincorporated Boulder County yesterday.
Deputies were investigating reports of someone using fireworks in the area of 128 Katie Lane, which is in the Kuhlmann Heights subdivision in unincorporated Boulder County, according to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
Neighbors reported Kenneth Jerome Jacques, 50, who lives at that address, was launching “rocket type” fireworks for the past several months. Many said they were concerned because of the fire danger in the area.
Deputies contacted Jacques and later obtained a search warrant for his residence.
During the search deputies found chemicals and powders that they believe Jacques was using to make “homemade fireworks and rocket engines.”
Jacques was arrested for the possession of an incendiary device – a felony. He is being held at the Boulder County Jail.
