The Colorado State Patrol is looking for a hit and run driver who seriously injured a man along Interstate 76 during this afternoon’s rush.
A release from CSP said that a man had stopped his jeep on the shoulder of the interstate to move a mattress from a traffic lane when a dark-colored Saturn sedan heading west on the highway hit him and sped away.
The crash occurred on the interstate near 96th Avenue at about 5:50 p.m.
Witnesses said the Saturn, last seen heading west near 88th Avenue, was being driven by a Hispanic female with dark hair. Witnesses who had seen her earlier said she walked with a cane and was wearing a red, oversize shirt with white shorts or a skirt.
The injured man, who is in his mid-20s but was not identified, was seriously hurt and taken to Denver Health.
Anyone with information can call the State Patrol at 303-289-4760.
