COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Firefighters say a small wildfire that broke out in a Colorado Springs park appears to have been started intentionally.
The Gazette reports that about five acres burned in Bear Creek Regional Park Thursday before the blaze was put out.
Winds were gusting to around 35 mph at about the time the fire broke out. The fire quickly spread across dead grass, dry sage brush and some trees.
Firefighters were able to bring it under control in less than an hour.
More dry, windy weather is expected in southern Colorado.
The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch for the region from noon Friday through Saturday at 8 p.m.
