A man who was shot at a Denver home Friday night has died and police continue to search for a second man who fled the home, authorities say.
Police scoured the neighborhood just west of Federal Boulevard and south of Bayaud Avenue following the 9:25 p.m. shooting at 136 S. Julian St.
“One moment it was quiet and the next they were rolling a man out in a gurney,” said Martin Barragan, 25, who lives in the same duplex where the shooting happened. “He was squiggling around on the gurney.”
The man who was shot was rushed to the hospital. His name has not been released.
John White, a spokesman for Denver Police, said the man who was shot and the man who ran, may not have been involved in a home invasion as previously believed.
The circumstances leading to the lethal confrontation are still under investigation, White said.
The shooting happened after there was some type of an argument at the home, he said today.
Neighbors said that a woman and her adult son live in the duplex where the shooting happened.
They said police used a helicopter to search for the other suspect. A description of the man who ran away is not yet available.
Neighbors overheard Bernadette Valdez, who lives in the home where the shooting happened, tell police that during the incident she had her granddaughter in the home.
The street is normally quiet, said Yareli Vargas, who lives next door, but Friday night she heard arguing coming from her neighbor’s home. She didn’t know what was happening.
Barragan said people in the neighborhood keep to themselves and don’t know each other very well.
