An armed man was peacefully removed from a Fort Collins hotel this morning after he barricaded himself in a room for more than an hour.
At 10:18 a.m. deputies were called to the Days Inn at 3625 E. Mulberry St. after receiving reports of distraught man with a gun, according to a news release from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.
A negotiations team was called and was successful in convincing the 55-year-old transient man to come out peacefully. The SWAT team was also called as a precaution.
The man was the only person in the room; surrounding rooms were evacuated as a precaution.
No shots were fired and no one was injured.
The man was taken into protective custody and taken to a local hospital for a mental heath evaluation.
No criminal charges are expected.
Fort Collins Police Services and the Poudre Fire Authority assisted deputies.
