A 60-year-old homeless man suspected of shooting a Lakewood woman in the face during a robbery in her home Saturday might be with a 28-year-old female companion, police said today.
The 72-year-old victim survived, and, so far, Melvin “Catfish” Nelson has eluded arrest.
Lakewood police said this afternoon they are also looking for Crystal Santisteven, who also uses the name Crystal Larocco.
“Santisteven is not a suspect at this time but is a person the Lakewood Police Department would like to speak with,” police said in a media release this afternoon.
She was the last person seen with Nelson, police said.
Santisteven is white, about 5 feet, 125 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She does not have an arrest record or a permanent residence in Colorado.
Any with information about her location can call 303-987-7111.
Police said over the weekend that the woman who was robbed knew Nelson. He allegedly robbed her at gunpoint Saturday at about 5 p.m., shot her and fled from her residence in the 100 block of South Ammons Street.
Nelson, who has an extensive criminal history, was last known to be driving a stolen 2000 Ford Explorer, with Colorado license plate 501PYD.
He is considered armed and dangerous, police said.
