A Denver sheriff’s deputy was formally charged Tuesday with sexually assaulting a teenage girl last year.
Brennon Lonergan, 36, is accused of inappropriately touching a teenage girl in May 2009, according to a news release from the Denver district attorney’s office.
He has been charged with one count of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, a felony.
Records also show that Lonergan is being held on a warrant from Lakewood accusing him of stalking his estranged wife, who filed for divorce March 16.
Lonergan, who was arrested last week, is in the Adams County jail on $12,500 bail. He will appear in Denver County Courtroom 2100 on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. to be formally advised of the charge.
