A driver died in a single-car traffic accident this morning in Wheat Ridge.
The Wheat Ridge Police Department described the driver as an elderly man. His name and age were not released.
The crash happened at about 6:45 a.m. near the intersection of West 38th Avenue and Robb Street.
The vehicle ran off the road, hit a telephone pole and then a large tree.
Police said in a media release that the driver was ejected and died at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle and there were no pedestrians involved.
West 38th Avenue was shut down by the fatal crash for about four hours.
