SAN FRANCISCO — Jaycee Dugard, who was kidnapped at the age of 11 and held captive for 18 years, will publish a memoir about her ordeal in July, her publisher announced Monday.
Dugard’s book, “A Stolen Life,” will chronicle the period from her abduction in 1991 to the present, publisher Simon & Schuster said.
Phillip Garrido, 60, and his wife, Nancy, 55, pleaded guilty last month to kidnapping Dugard near her South Lake Tahoe, Calif., home, raping her and confining her in a hidden backyard encampment. The plea deal will spare Dugard from having to testify at a trial.
The case drew international headlines after Dugard and two daughters she bore with Phillip Garrido were discovered living on the Garridos’ property in Antioch, Calif., in August 2009. The Garridos faced 29 charges of kidnapping and sexual assault.
