DENVER—A man accused of starting a fire and planting a homemade bomb at a Denver-area mall on the anniversary of the Columbine High School shootings says there’s “absolutely no connection” between the events.
KCNC-TV in Denver reports Earl Moore made that statement in a handwritten letter replying to questions from the television station. A reporter had asked whether there was a connection, since the bomb was placed at the mall on the 12th anniversary of the shootings at Columbine.
KCNC reports that Moore replied that there was no connection, but he didn’t directly admit or deny he was the one who planted the explosive device April 20 at Southwest Plaza Mall, not far from Columbine.
He has pleaded not guilty to federal charges of using a destructive device and arson.
