NASA’s asteroid sample- return mission announced Wednesday it is expected to bring more than $3 million in research funding to the University of Colorado at Boulder.
A team led by CU aerospace professor Daniel Scheeres will characterize the asteroid’s mass and gravity field to better understand its internal structure. The mission is set for launch in 2016, with the samples returning to Earth in 2023.
