No Colorado towns were picked as the “most beautiful”, “most patriotic”, “friendliest” or having the “best food.”
But one was picked as “most fun.”
If you guessed Aspen, Boulder, Vail or Telluride – you guessed wrong.
According to Rand McNally’s “Best of the Road,” Glenwood Springs is one of the six finalists for the “Most Fun” city in the USA.
The map maker said that during a month-long survey conducted by it and USA Today, more than 20,000 people cast their votes in the five categories.
The top towns in the categories have been narrowed from more than 600 submissions and will be reviewed by the Best of the Road “rally teams” via blog posts, video and photos.
“On June 23, five rally teams will be assigned one category to review key towns and verify which truly deserve to win the title ‘Best of the Road’ in its category,” said Rand McNally.
Among the most beautiful finalists are Sandpoint, Idaho, and Baker City, Ore.
The most patriotic include Emporia, Kan., and Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
Friendliest include Walla Walla, Wash., and Lake Havasu, Ariz.
Best food Include Costa Mesa, Calif., and Gulfport, Fla.Howard Pankratz: 303-954-1939 or hpankratz@denverpost.com.
