The state of the union at Coors Field is anything but encouraging, given the Rockies’ 18-30 record since mid-April, the worst in the major leagues.
But as agonizing as his team’s seven-week funk has been, the man who assembled the Rockies’ roster said he’s satisfied with the team’s effort.
Asked by The Denver Post for a state-of-the-franchise interview going into a 10-game homestand that starts tonight, general manager Dan O’Dowd passed.
He did, however, pass along an e-mail Wednesday while in the middle of the final day of baseball’s annual amateur draft. Here are two excerpts:
“I can certainly understand everyone’s frustration. We obviously haven’t had a very good run. But we still have a long way in front of us. . . .
“I do believe the effort is there, but the results aren’t. If the effort was lacking, I would have a different approach.”
