Head for the hills
This week saw a marked improvement for fishing in mountain reservoirs, such as Green Mountain, Spinney, Elevenmile, Granby and Antero. All are doing well for trout, primarily rainbows. Look for most of the higher mountain waters to open over the next couple of weeks. Those willing to fish after sunset have been picking up some nice walleyes on Denver-area waters. Pueblo continues to fish well for myriad species. Need to get the kids out? Consider hitting the neighborhood ponds for some sunfish, as they continue to report good action. Stock and drop: More trout to catch
A list of some of the waters where the Colorado Division of Wildlife recently stocked catchable trout, as of Tuesday:
Northeast region: Bear Creek Reservoir, Carter Reservoir, Eaglewatch Lake, Evergreen Reservoir and Flatiron Reservoir.
Northwest region: Beaver Lake, Christine Lake, Cowdrey Lake, Island Lake, McKee Lake, Rifle Gap Reservoir, Ruedi Reservoir and Slack-Weiss Reservoir.
Southeast region: Crystal Creek Reservoir, Daigre Reservoir, DeWeese Reservoir, Lake Dorothy, Monument Reservoir, North Lake, Trinidad Reservoir and Wahatoya Reservoir.
Southwest region: Andrews Lake, Applebaugh Pond, Beaver Creek Reservoir, Big Meadows Reservoir, Big Molas Lake, Buckeye Reservoir, Columbine Ponds, Deer Creek, Juniata Reservoir, Lake San Cristobal, Le Platt Lake, Lower Brown Lakes, Pothole Lakes No. 1 and No. 2, Spring Creek Pond and Wetherill Pond.
