The 89th Greeley Stampede opens Friday and runs through the Fourth of July at Island Grove Regional Park.
The event began as a summer celebration of the local potato crop, but has become “The World’s Largest 4th of July Rodeo & Western Celebration,” according to organizers.
The Stampede includes professional rodeos, a carnival, parade, concerts, a demotion derby on Sunday, Independence Day fireworks, the daily exhibits of the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, Swampmaster’s Gator Show and other attractions.
Concerts this year include Rodney Atkins with Little Big Town on Saturday, Clint Black with Josh Kelley on Sunday, Chris Young with Steel Magnolia on July 1 and Cheap Trick with Blue Öyster Cult on July 2. Concert tickets range in price from $22 to $29.
General admission to the Stampede is $5 for teens and adults, $2 for children 12 and younger and free to people older than 61 who have a Stampede coupon.
The coupons, which provides discounts on other admission prices, are available from the Greeley Chamber of Commerce, King Soopers stores, Kum & Go stores and Qdoba restaurants.
Parking is $10.
