GREELEY, Colo.—A 38-year-old Weld County man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for kidnapping and menacing his estranged wife.
A jury convicted Jerad Massey of Firestone in June of second-degree kidnapping, aggravated motor vehicle theft and felony menacing. The Weld County district attorney’s office says he was also sentenced Tuesday to five years of parole.
Police say Massey went to his wife’s home last June and told her he wanted to say goodbye to his children. They say he asked his wife for a ride to his car and then pulled a gun on her.
Police say the woman jumped out of the car and ran across both northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 25.
Massey was arrested the next morning.
