WASHINGTON — More special-operations raids, targeted drone strikes and fewer land wars can be expected in the U.S. fight against al-Qaeda, with surgical action replacing the Bush administration’s global war on terrorism.
That’s according to White House counterterrorism chief John Brennan, who unveiled a new Obama administration strategy Wednesday. Brennan says the strategy is the first to focus primarily on al-Qaeda attempts to recruit and attack inside the United States.
