A house fire in Thornton on Wednesday has displaced a family of 11.
The fire broke out at about 3:45 p.m. at 9301 Race St., said Deputy Chief Larry Coapland.
Firefighters were able to confine the fire to the back side of the one-story home, but the single-family residence sustained heavy smoke damage.
No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Thornton fire was aided by North Washington Fire Protection District and the North Metro Fire Rescue District. About 18 firefighters attacked the blaze and quickly put it out.
The fire displaced a couple and their nine children, who range in ages from three to 17, according to the American Red Cross Mile High Chapter.
The Red Cross is aiding the family.
