Weather made an already difficult layout on The Broadmoor’s East Course worse.
Early rise.
With the 6:45 a.m. start, cool temperatures and leftover water from Saturday’s downpours, the course played wet, and the greens were a little more receptive in the morning. As the day went along, it stayed pretty muggy, so the greens remained soft, but they certainly didn’t seem to lose any of their quickness. Once again, the greens held the upper hand in this event.
Versatility.
The USGA did a good job of moving around the tee boxes through the entire tournament to keep things exciting. Case in point: a combined seven eagles Sunday on two of the par-5s.
Pin perfect.
Even with the boxes moving around, the pins were never really in a friendly spot and always kept the golfers guessing.
