WELD COUNTY — Weld County deputies on horseback scoured for clues in the area near railroad tracks where a man was found shot to death Saturday.

A train engineer saw the body of Armando Mata-Magellanes, 30, at about 8 a.m. near train tracks along Interstate 76 between Lockbuie and Hudson.

“The commander asked for the mounted unit to come down and check the area, which we did yesterday,” Undersheriff Margie Martinez said Sunday.

Martinez said she doesn’t know if anything related to the death, which is being investigated as a homicide, was found by the search party.
