FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Police say a 31-year-old man arrested in connection with a fire at an apartment that led a woman to jump from a second-story window poured bleach on the woman to hide evidence.
Det. Jaclyn Shaklee of the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office tells KUSA-TV that Travis Forbes brutally attacked the woman and left her for dead.
Forbes was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, arson, vehicle theft and sexual assault. The woman was hospitalized with burns and was in a medically-induced coma.
The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports police executed a search warrant at the home owned by Forbes’ father on Tuesday afternoon.
Forbes has also been questioned but not charged in the disappearance of a Kenia Monge, 19, who went missing in March after leaving a Denver nightclub.
