SUMMIT COUNTY — Authorities said a 48-year-old Boulder man hiking near the summit of Quandary Peak in central Colorado died Sunday after going into cardiac arrest.

The man, whose name wasn’t released, had a history of medical issues, officials said. He was at about 13,800 feet in elevation when he collapsed. According to authorities, the hiker’s friend began CPR, and three Air Force cadets in the area helped.
