Two Denver TV stations are nominated for national Emmy Awards for news and documentary programs, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced today.
KMGH-Channel 7 and KUSA-Channel will compete in the category of outstanding regional news story. Channel 7 was nominated for “33 Minutes to 34 Right,” a report on response time failures at DIA by investigative reporter Tony Kovaleski with correspondents Tom Burke and Arthur Kane.
Channel 9 was nominated for a financial story, “Foreclosure Woes,” by investigative reporter Jace Larson, executive reporter Nicole Vap and producer Anna Hewson.
Stations in Minneapolis, New Orleans and Houston are also in the running.
Denver-based HDNet scored four nomimations for documentaries by Dan Rather.
CBS drew the most nominations, 34, and PBS followed with 32. NBC, CNBC and MSNBC together drew 29 nominations. The nominations are open to national radio broadcast, cable, satellite and internet outlets.
Larry King will be honored with a lifetime achievement award when the winners are announced Sept. 26.
