Two hours after Michael Hancock took his oath of office to become mayor, 14 members of his Cabinet did the same.
Of those officials, only five will be permanent members, as searches are underway for the nine other positions, including chief of police, city attorney, manager of public works and manager of environmental health.
Newcomers are former clerk-and-recorder candidate Tom Downey, who is now director of excise and licenses, and former state Treasurer Cary Kennedy, who became manager of finance.
Returning leaders include Fire Department Chief Eric Tade, Aviation Manager Kim Day and Director of Corrections and Undersheriff Gary Wilson.
Hancock said he is grateful for those officials who have agreed to stay on during the searches. Hancock said he and his team reviewed thousands of applications for the Cabinet positions. Caitlin Gibbons, The Denver Post
