When the economy tanked and dragged down the construction and real estate sectors in the process, Boulder’s Star Flooring & Design saw a noticeable drop in its business.
After nearly three years, the slump appears to have subsided, officials for the 45-year-old company say.
“Probably this summer is when we really started to see … more traffic turning into sales,” said Lilly Laser, a Star Flooring sales associate.
The latest sales and use tax report from the city of Boulder reflects that upward trend. Collections from retail sales were up nearly 6 percent through May.
