FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Authorities say a woman has been arrested in northern Colorado on charges of felony animal cruelty and obstruction after several animals suffering from dehydration and heat exhaustion were found in the back of a rental truck.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office says 56-year-old Holiday Ann Christie was arrested Wednesday after deputies responded to a call about a dog on the loose.

Authorities say 15 dogs, two cats and four pygmy goats were in the back of a truck. They say the temperature inside was 106 degrees.

Deputies say a dog had been hit and killed on the road and Christie was uncooperative with animal control officers. They say she was apparently in the process of moving from Idaho to Texas.

Christie is being held in the Larimer county jail.
