Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods hopes to raise at least $1,300 in donations for the Denver police bike patrol with a barbecue during National Night Out next Tuesday.

The money would help repair four bikes used by officers in District 6, the organization said today.

National Night Out is celebrated annually to promote community public safety and foster relationships with local police.

Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods and the Alamo Placita Neighborhood Association is putting on a free barbecue from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Tears-McFarlane house at 1290 Williams St., on the north side of Cheesman Park.

The event is sponsored by FirstBankTears-McFarlane house branch at Colfax Avenue and Franklin Street and includes free food, beverages, games, music and other festivities.

“This will be a great way to socialize with your neighbors and help your community at the same time,” according to a media release today from Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods.
