A mountain stretch of highway was closed in both directions by a traffic accident this morning.

Just after midnight a truck hauling food rolled on U.S. Highway 285 near Fairplay, shutting down the road in both directions intermittently, said Nate Reid, a Colorado State Patrol spokesman.

The driver and a passenger were in the truck when it rolled, Reid said. The passenger was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Further details on the injuries were not available.

Food had to be removed from the truck before it could be uprighted and hauled off. The highway reopened at about 8:40 a.m.

The state patrol is investigating the accident.
