Denver police released a sketch Sunday of a man suspected of impersonating a police officer and pulling over a female driver last month.
Denver police received a call about 9 p.m. July 29 from a woman who said she was driving north on Park Avenue West near Globeville when a man driving an unmarked, white Ford Crown Victoria with red and blue lights on top pulled her over.
The man told the woman he was a Denver police officer and asked for her driver’s license and car registration.
The man asked the woman if she knew why he stopped her and then returned to his car and drove away, police said in a news release.
Police described the suspect as a Latino man in his early 40s who is about 5 feet 6 inches tall and has spiky black hair and a potbelly. He was wearing dirty blue jeans and a light blue uniform shirt with a ripped breast pocket.
Denver police do not know if this is the same man suspected of impersonating police in Aurora and Jefferson County.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867) or . Text messages can be sent to CRIMES (274637) with the title DMCS and a message.
