Longmont police concluded what they’re calling “Operation Bad Cowboy” Saturday by arresting eight people on a variety of warrants and suspicion of narcotics-related charges.
Handguns, rifles, drug paraphernalia and various quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and marijuana were confiscated during Saturday’s searches and arrests, according to police Cmdr. Jeff Satur.
Satur said that after several hours of surveillance, a key suspect — 45-year-old David Keith “Cowboy” McCoy — was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Saturday south of Longmont, near U.S. Highway 287 and Jasper Road, following a traffic stop coordinated by the department’s Special Enforcement and SWAT units.
“He was our main player,” Satur said, of the months-old investigation of a suspected meth ring.
