Big Game, the big restaurant in the old Il Fornaio space at 1631 Wazee St. closed Tuesday. The space has been leased by the The Charlie Palmer Group, headed by the famed New York City chef of the same name.

Palmer spokeswoman Erin Jevis said a Palmer concept restaurant will take over the entire Big Game space in the fall.

Big Game, which opened with much fanfare in May 2010, was owned by TurnTable Restaurant Group, a company headed by famed restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow (China Grill, Asia de Cuba) and operated by his son, Zach.

The Wazee Street space sat vacant for more than two years while Chodorow’s company paid the rent to hold the property.

Big Game was an upscale sports bar with free Wii games, cushy leather booths, a loungy front bar, multiple big-screen TVs and a ping pong table.
