COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A Colorado Springs High School plans a 5K run and charity walk for four members of a local family who died in Wyoming when high waters washed away their camper van last month.
Doherty High School is hosting the event Aug. 27 and the $20 entry donations will go to the Half the Sky Foundation. The charity benefits children in Chinese orphanages.
Alex and Laurel Constantinides (kon-stan-tin-NEE’-deez) were driving away from a Wyoming campground when their van plunged into a hole created by a swollen creek.
Alex was the only survivor. The Colorado Springs Gazette reports ( ) that Alex Constantinides is a doctor who works with the Doherty athletics department helping to rehabilitate injured athletes.
