The man who led a Colorado State Patrol trooper on a 100 mph chase up Interstate 25 has been identified as Scott Hosterman, 53, of New Mexico, said Trooper Nate Reid.

Hosterman is being held in the Arapahoe County jail on charges of vehicular eluding and reckless driving. He was scheduled to appear in court this morning.

Authorities say Hosterman’s vehicle collided with another car on I-25 near Colorado Springs Sunday afternoon. Hosterman then fled the scene.

He was pulled over near Castle Rock, but when the trooper got out of his vehicle, Hosterman took off again. The trooper caught up with him near Orchard Road, where the trooper was able to stop the vehicle by hitting it, sending the vehicle onto a raised median.

Hosterman has one prior arrest in Colorado, for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in Boulder County in 1985.
