Will CenturyLink be as good a friend to Denver-area nonprofits as its predecessor, Qwest? Time will tell, of course, but things appear to be off to a promising start.
The telephone giant is presenting sponsor for Fete des Fleurs, the signature fundraiser for Denver Botanic Gardens. The black-tie dinner-dance chaired by Karen Wolfe takes place at the gardens on Aug. 26.
It will be an homage to the American Southwest; in particular, the Allan Houser sculptures that are currently on display.
Wolfe and her committee expect to welcome 500-plus for an evening that begins with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres served while guests enjoy leisurely strolls around what Wolfe describes as “our beautiful, 23-acre oasis.” Dinner in an elegantly decorated tent is next, followed by dancing to Soul X.
Fete des Fleurs raises about $200,000 annually for the DBG’s annual fund. The money is used to support DBG education, research, conservation and community outreach programs.
Those helping to plan Fete 2011 include Katie Agron, Barbara Baldwin, Brooke Borgen, Christina Brickley, Meredith Coors, Amy Corrigan, Debbie Davis, Rebecca Gart, Judy Grant, Christine Grawemeyer, Heidi Hammell, Betty Lynn Jackson, Johanna Kelly, Brooke Maloy, Susan Noble, Allison Perkins, Sonya Peterson, Susan Fox Pinkowitz, Kelly Stava, Teresa Taylor, Tammy Westerberg, Rosie Wiedenmayer, and Erin Williams.
