Blue Vista almost stayed an affordable development by mistake Tuesday night.
The Longmont City Council initially voted 4-3 on Tuesday to keep requiring that roughly half of Blue Vista’s homes be “affordable,” even in the event of foreclosure. The development’s owner, Thistle Community Housing, has defaulted on a $4.5 million loan from Guaranty Bank and also owes about $988,000 to the city; the bank and Thistle had asked for the affordable housing requirements to be removed to make Blue Vista more marketable.
