A 15-year-old boy angry over being punished for not taking out the trash stabbed his father six times with a folding knife Monday evening on the 1000 block of Sunset Street, police reported.
The boy’s father was treated at Longmont United Hospital and released, according to Cmdr. Jeff Satur.
Satur said the boy’s parents took away his cellphone after he refused to take out the trash at about 7:20 p.m. The boy then went to a shed, got an ax and used it to break through a bedroom door in the family’s home, police reported. Once the boy was in the bedroom he dropped the ax, got a folding knife from the laundry room and told his father he was going to slash the tires on his vehicle. The boy’s father tried to restrain the teen, who stabbed his father in the back six times.
The boy’s mother was able to take the knife after the attack and called police, according to reports.
