BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder officials will consider a resolution stating the city will provide a legal defense to employees who regulate medical marijuana businesses if they face federal prosecution.
The Boulder City Council plans to discuss the resolution Tuesday. The Boulder Daily Camera reports ( ) that memos this year from the U.S. Department of Justice worried some city employees. That’s because the documents said state and local ordinances would not be a defense for civil or criminal enforcement of federal law.
The resolution would say the city would provide employees a legal defense if they are charged civilly or criminally for working under the city’s medical marijuana ordinance.
